ABC’s popular operator training classes are coming to Biogas Americas!

Wednesday, June 24

  • 8:00 – 9:00
  • George Steinbrenner IV, Harding Steinbrenner Racing

10:00 – 11:30

Thanks to lucrative policies, the RNG marketing is booming. But how long will that boom last and where will the growth be next. Importantly, what is the role of gas utilities for RNG? Are they purchasing the gas directly or just providing delivery to gas customers?

2:00 – 3:15

RNG interconnection started in the 1980s but has really accelerated in the last couple years.  Still only 100 projects have connected. What can be done to make interconnection more routine for utilities and what can the utilities with little experience with RNG learn from those who do?

3:45 – 5:00

How does the industry derisk projects through best practices, safety, and operations and maintenance? How risky is policy? As the biogas market continues to expand, more financiers and underwriters are entering the market. All of them need to evaluate how risky a biogas project might be to price their services. And in parallel, how can the industry respond to derisk projects offer solutions that might avoid the need for a costly performance guarantee from an EPC?

10:00 – 11:30

Recently, more money has been flowing to the biogas industry for cutting-edge R&D that can improve biogas system performance and bring down costs. Come to this session to hear about the latest R&D projects currently underway and how they might impact the industry.

2:00 – 3:15

Congress allocated some money to the Department of Energy in this year’s federal budget that can help biogas systems.  DOE’s ARPA-E program traditionally funds high risk, high reward R&D projects. What needs does the biogas industry have for R&D that might fit this profile? ARPA-E expects to issue a request for proposals soon and wants ideas from biogas companies on what R&D we need most to drive growth in the industry.
